Social Security Removal Initiative Provider Listening Session- July 27, 2016
On July 27, 2016 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. ET, CMS will host an important Provider Listening Session to discuss their Social Security Number Removal Initiative (SSNRI) and its impact on providers, their patients, and their business and billing practices. This initiative is a result of the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) of 2015 which mandates the removal of the Social Security Number (SSN) -based Health Insurance Claim Number (HICN) from Medicare cards, to address the current risk of beneficiary medical identity theft.
The listening session will include Q&A period for participants joining the call. Once CMS receives your registration, they will send you a copy of the presentation for your review prior to the listening session. To participate, call 1-877-267-1577 and use ID Code – 993 470 818. (Please plan to call in 15 minutes before the listening session starts as CMS anticipates a large number of participants.) In addition to participating in the listening session, feel free to send in written comments no later than August 3, 2016 to SSNRIExternal@cms.hhs.gov.
